On March 5, 1796, Thomas Cater, planter of Liberty County, sold to William J. Baker and Doctor Adam Alexander, planter and “fesion” [physician?] respectively of Liberty County, as trustees for Mrs. Martha Baker and her children “the following Negroe Slave Mary.” Witnessed by Moses Harrel.
On May 20, 1794, Thomas Cater, Liberty County, sold to William J. Baker and Doct’r Adam Alexander as trustees for Mrs. Martha Baker and her children, Liberty County, for 274 pounds “the following Negro Slaves to wit, Bram, Joe, Mary, Venus, & Diana. Witnessed by Mary Shepard.
On June 1, 1795, Thomas Cater, Liberty County, sold to William J. Baker and Doct’r Adam Alexander as trustees for Mrs. Martha Baker and her children, for 100 pounds Liberty County, for 274 pounds “the following Negroes Slaves to wit Scipio & Peter. Witnessed by George Law.
All the above deeds were recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on August 6, 1796.
