Enslaved People Named: Frank
On February 13, 1821, George Kershaw used as collateral on promissory note totalling $180 to Young S. Pickard “a certain male slave, named Frank, about fifty three years of age.” Witnessed by James Jenney. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on February 19, 1821.
On April 2, 1821, Wilcox removed “the within named fellow Frank” from the mortgage. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on April 2, 1821. [NOTE: It was not clear why Wilcox was involved; however, the deed was clearly labelled “George Kershaw to Young S. Pickard.”
