On March 3, 1818, James S. Bradwell, planter of Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $2046 to Joseph Jones, planter of Liberty County, “three negro slaves, named Ben, Smart and Joe.” Witnessed by Morgan Mara. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on March 6, 1818. [Note: Marked as paid in full as of April 2, 1844.]
