On May 13, 1815, Thomas Bradwell, planter of Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $260 to Joseph Jones “a certain negro slave named Joe.” Witnessed by James S. Bradwell, Nathaniel Law. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on May 20, 1815.
