Enslaved Persons Named: Sarah, George

On February 21, 1791, Lachlan McIntosh, Liberty County Sheriff, sold to George Haist for 140 pounds “two negroe slaves to wit Sarah and George.” After a judgment obtained by Leonard Cecil of Savannah against David Duncan, planter of Liberty County, in the Liberty County Superior Court, Sheriff McIntosh seized Sarah and George from David Duncan and sold them at public auction, at which Haist was the highest bidder. Sarah was described as being about 45 years old and George a boy about 13 years old. Witnessed by John Maxwell. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on June 6, 1791.
