On June 28, 1828, Peter William Law, planter and merchant, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $1103.15 to James A. Maxwell and William King, under the name Maxwell and King of Savannah, “the following named negro slaves, to wit, Nelly, Rachel, Ellena [or Ellina], Henry, Mary, Hannah, Elizabeth, Sam, Daniel, Simon, John and Adam.” Witnessed by .
