On April 2, 1828, William Law, of Savannah, used as collateral on a promissory note of $7400 to Joseph W. Jackson, also of Savannah, “all those following twenty negro slaves, named Balaam, Cubit, Boston, April, July, Sambo, Champ, Nat, Rose, Monday, Cadmus, Dinah, Little Dinah, Amy, Silla, Bob, Sally, Sabina, Edmund, and Kate.” Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on July 22, 1828.
Joseph W. Jackson transferred this mortgage to the “President, Directors & Company of the Bank of the United States” on April 8, 1828. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on July 22, 1828.
