Bill of Sale (Holmes/Planters Bank)

Enslaved Persons Named: Pamory, Bamer [alt: Bama]

On April 4, 1826, “two certain negro slaves, named Pamory & Bamer, the property of James Holmes” were sold at auction at the Liberty County courthouse in Riceboro for $176 to John Dunwody for the Planters Bank, which was the highest bid. Liberty County Deputy Sheriff Edward Way conducted the sale pursuant to a foreclosure of a mortgage James Holmes had executed with the Bank of the State of Georgia.
