On April 26, 1827, Oliver Stevens, executor of the estate of William Fleming, sold to Charity Varnedoe, and her children by Isham Varnedoe, for $300 “one slave named Phillis [alt: Phyllis].” Witnessed by W.B. Fleming. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on May 2, 1827.
