Enslaved Persons Named: Dolly, Charlotte, Mary
On July 26, 1810, at Turtle River in Glynn County, Georgia: “Received from my woman Dolly seven hundred dollars in full satisfaction for her hire, and the hire of her two children by name Charlotte & Mary, for ninety nine years from the day of my decease, and not till then. And I do hereby constitute, nominate & appoint my brother Jonathan Thomas, together with my good & trusty friend Leighton Wilson Esq. now of the vicinity of Brunswick, as guardian of the said Dolly, and her said children Charlotte & Mary, as witness my hand and seal. The last payment of the above sum, being fifty dollars, was made by the above mentioned woman Dolly to John Thomas, & acknowledged by him to be the only balance due by the said Dolly of the above sum of eleven hundred dollars in presence of the subscribing witness.” Witnessed by F. Yeamans, F.R. Burke. Marked on this deed was “true extract from Record Book G folio 216” signed by John Burnette Clerk. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on August 24, 1826.
