On January 26, 1826, Sarah Martha Holms, daughter of David G. Holms, late of Liberty County, and Joseph Edward Maxwell, also of Liberty County, entered into a marriage contract, with James O. Screven and James A. Maxwell as her trustees. Put into trust for her was the property she brought into the marriage: “a tract of land called Biddeford, bequeathed by Mr. Shadrach Butler to her, adjoining lands of Palmer Goulding, Donald Fraser, Screven Hill Tract, etc. Also, all & every the following named negro slaves; to wit, John, Trim, Affee, Amey, Will, Isaac, Israel, Miley, William, Peggy, Cinda (infant), Old Margaretta, Patrick, Leander, Peter, Mooser, Robin, Old Warney, Old Sambo, Old Lucy, Old June, Old Ben, Minty, Flora, Young Ben, Abram, Eve, Young Minty, Balaam, Moses (infant), Charlotte, Scipio, Old Charlotte (blind), Anthony, Betty, Isaac, Abner, Priscilla, William, Charles, Charlotte, Fanny, Elsey, Cuffee, David, Old August, Peter, Binah, Little Peter, Little Lucy, Louisa (infant), Phoebe, Old Nero.” Witnessed by C.O.
