Varnedoe Allowed to Sell Five Enslaved People (1822)

Liberty County Court of Ordinary session on Monday, March 4, 1822

–

“Nathaniel Varnedoe, executor of the last will & testament of Samuel Jones deceased, having applied to the Court for permission to sell five negro slaves belonging to said estate, & having satisfied the Court that due notice has been given to all persons concerned and that the other personal property of the estate, together with the hire of all the slaves for twelve months, would be insufficient to discharge the debts due by said estate;

Ordered that the permission applied for be granted, the said executor taking care to comply with the further requisites of the law in such cases made and provided.”
