In the Name of God Amen I Lydia Winn Wife of John Winn of St John’s Parish and Province of
Georgia Planter being in a tolerable State of Health of Body and of perfect Mind and Memory, calling to Mind my Morta:
lity, and knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to die, do make and appoint this my last Will and Testament in
Manner and Form following; first of all commending my Soul unto the Hands of God that gave it, and my Body to the
Earth to be buried with a decent and Christianlike Burial at the Discretion of my Executors or Husband.
It is my Will that first of all my lawful Debts and Funeral Charges be paid.
I hereby declare it to be my Will Intent and Design that my Estate and every Part and Parcel thereof herein aftermenti:
oned, real and Personal shall descend or proceed in the Female Line, that is to say, that if any Person or Persons, to whom I
shall herein mention to leave or give any Thing, or Part of my Estate, should die under Age, or before Marriage, It is then
and in that Case my Will, that the next Female Heir of the said Family or Families, where such Death or Deaths shall hap-
pen, shall have what was mentioned as left or given, to the Person or Persons so dieing (except any Provision to the con:
trary shall be herein after made and mentioned to the contrary, and only where it is so) and if no such Female should
be in the said Family or Familys, that then it shall go to the next Female Heir to me in Law.
Excepting any Addition to the Number of my Slaves by Purchases before my Death, or by Births before and until the
Death of my beloved Husband Mr John Winn, I give to the said John Winn all the Income and Profits of my Estate, from the
Time that I was married unto him until his Death, upon Condition that the said John Winn, shall purchase for or give
unto Joseph Winn, and Ann Winn Children of Joseph Winn deceased, a Negro Girl each. AND at and after the Death
of the said John Winn, and as above mentioned limited and expressed; I give and Dispose of my Estate real and personal in
the following Manner.
I give to my beloved Brother Joseph Andrew during his natural Life the Use of one Negro Man called May one Boy
called Mingo and one Negro Woman called Lindey [alt: Lindy], and after the Death of the said Joseph Andrew, I give the said May
and Lindey to Lydia Andrew, and said Mingo to Saunders Andrew Children of said Joseph Andrew, and their Heirs forever.
I give to my beloved Brother Benjamin Andrew during his natural Life the Use of one Mustizo Fellow called Joe, with
Joe and Billey [alt: Billy] reputed Sons of said first mentioned Joe, and after the Death of my said Brother, I give the said older Joe to
Benjamin Andrew, and the younger Joe to Susanna Andrew, and Billey to Lydia Andrew Children of the said first men:
tioned Benjamin Andrew, to them and their Heirs forever.
If my Nephews John and Thomas Andrew, Sons of James Andrew deceased, should live to be of Age, I then give to said John
Andrew a Negro Woman called Sabina, with her Son called Adam, and to said Thomas Andrew a Negro Boy cal:
led Isaac to them and their Heirs; But in case one or both of them, the said John and Thomas Andrew should die under
Age, it is my Will that whatever I have herein mentioned as given to them or either of them so dieing, shall be given
to Saunders Andrew aforesaid and his Heirs forever.
I give to my beloved Sister Mary Osgood Wife of the Revd Mr John Osgood during her natural Life the Use of one
Negro Man called Dick, one called Titus, and all my Right in and to a Wench called Rose and Sharlott child of the said
Rose, and after the Death of the said Mary Osgood, if my Neice Anna Bacon should then be liveing or any Heir or Heirs
of her Body lawfully begotten, I then give to the said Anna Bacon, and the lawful Heirs of her Body as above said
the said Fellows Dick and Titus, on Condition that the said Dick shall be allowed and payed three Pounds Annual:
ly, out of the Profits and Produce of his own Labour if he makes so much, by Her, Him, or Them who shall pos:
sess him; And I further give to my said Neice Anna Bacon the Use of two Negro Girls called Rachel and Dinah
during her natural Life, and in Case of her haveing and leaveing any Heir or Heirs of her Body as above said, to them —
but if the said Ann Bacon should die without Issue of her Body lawfully begotten, I then leave the said Fel:
lows Dick and Titus in Trust with my Executors (Dick being allowed as aforesaid) for the Use of the religious Poor of my Bro:
thers or sisters Children, as long as said Negroes shall live, leaveing it to the Judgment and Discretion of my Executors
when, and to whom to give such Supplies as are hereby intended.
And further if the said Anna Bacon should die without Issue as above said, I give the two Negro Girls Rebecca and Dinah [?] to my Neice Anna Baker Daughter of Richard Baker to Her and her Heirs forever.
After the Death of Mary Osgood aforesaid, I give my Right in and to Rose and Sharlott aforementioned to Thomas
Baker Son of Benjamin Baker to him and his Heirs forever.
If my beloved Sister Hannah Alexander should return to this Province a Widow before John Godfrey her Son shall
Arrive to the Age of twenty one Years I then give to the said Hannah Alexander the Use of one Negro Man cal-
led Neptune and one Negro Woman called Phillis dureing her natural Life, which said Negroes Neptune
and Phillis, at and after her Death, I give, either them or the Worth of them as my Executors shall think fit and pro:
per to George Godfrey Son of the said Hannah Alexander (or in case she should not return as aforesaid) to him and
his Heirs forever, and the Profits ariseing from them, from the Time of the Death of John Winn aforesaid till the
Arrival of said Hannah, or till the said John Godfrey, in case she should not return as aforesaid, shall come of Age.
I give to my beloved Sister Elisabeth Baker Wife of Richard Baker, during her natural Life or until she marries
again the Use of one Mustizo Wench called Cloe, and one Wench called Moll with all their Issue, which said Slaves, after
and at the Death, or marrying again of my said Sister Elisabeth, I give to Lydia Baker Daughter of said Richard Baker
and her Heirs forever.
I give to my Nephew William Baker Son of Richard Baker, one Negro Fellow called Tom to him and his Heirs.
I give my Tract of Land on the Head of Newport Swamps to be as equally divided in Value as can conveniently be,
to my Nephews Thomas Andrew Son of James Andrew and John Godfrey son of George Godfrey and my niece Lydia Andrew daughter of Benjamin Andrew which I give to them their heirs and assigns.
I give my other Tract of Land on the lower Part of Newport joining Lands of Mr Josiah Osgood, or the Value of
it, if it should be sold in my Life Time, to Lydia Baker Daughter of Richard Baker to her and her Heirs forever.
I constitute nominate and appoint Mr John Winn and my Brother Benjamin Andrew and Brother in Law
Richard Baker, and as and after their Deaths Mess’rs John Bacon, John Andrew Son of Benjamin Andrew
Thomas Baker and Peter Winn Executor of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking and disannul:
ling all other and former Wills Testaments and Legacies by me heretofore made and mentioned, ratifying and
confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament.

who being duly sworn made Oath that she is the Person that
signed this Instrument of Writing as an Evidence by the Name of
Esther Scarth, that she saw Lydia Winn put her Hand and Seal
to it as her last Will and Testament, and that she saw Macahijah
Hensin and Robert Bell sign together with her Self as Evidences
thereof. —
