On June 4, 1857, in Chatham County, Phereby Shuman gifted to her son Wm. [William] H. Shuman “four negroes to wit, Sally aged about thirty years, and her three children to wit Luke, Delia and Pompey.” Witnessed by H.I [or J] Shuman. Recorded in Bryan County Superior Court on February 20, 1863.
