Georgia, Chatham } To all whom it may concern, be it known that I Ann Maria Maxwell widow and relict of Major James B. Maxwell late of Bryan County deceased do acknowledge and declare that I have this day received from John Pray one of the acting and qualified exors [executors] of the same James B. Maxwell his bond or obligation conditioned for the purchase of two negros namely girls Betty & Harriot said negros being part of the personal Estate of the said James B. Maxwell and now in the possession of the said Ann Maria Maxwell and to be sold at Sheriff’s sales, and that I have received the said Bond for the purpose aforesaid, in full of all claims share or proportion which I am or may be entitled to, or which I can or could claim under & by virtue of the will of my said late husband the same James B. Maxwell, either as a Legatee, Devisee, or in any other manner or way whatsoever and in consideration of the receipt of the said bond or obligation for the purpose aforesaid by me as aforesaid, I do hereby for myself my heirs Executors and administrators freely & absolutely renounce & release all claim of Dower, third, or other share which I may have claim, or be entitled unto either at Law or in Equity of in to, or out of any & all of the Lands Tenements & hereditaments which the said James B. Maxwell at any time in his life time, was seized or possessed or of such as he was seized & possessed of at the time of his death. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal
