1799 Bryan County Deed of Gift (Clark/Fyffe)

On December 31, 1799, William Clark, of Bryan County, Georgia, gifted to his niece Catharine Fyffe [alt: Fife] “five Negroes named ? Murfy ?, Simon, Jack, Suckey [alt: Sucky] and Hester and their future issue..” He added that he had already put Catharine Fyffe “in full possession by delivering to her one of the negroes named Hester at the time of the sealing and delivery of these present.” Witnessed by Thos. [Thomas] Braly. Recorded in Bryan County Superior Court on March 25, 1800.

On the same day, William Clark gifted to his niece Elizabeth Fyffe “five negroes named Sam, Joe, Cook, Tom and Tenor [alt: Tenah] (Sam is a carpenter commonly called Bluff Sam).” Witnessed by Thos. [Thomas] Braly. Recorded in Bryan County Superior Court on March 25, 1800.
