Bill of Sale (Molyneux/Hutcherson)

Robert Hutcherson from Mr. Edward Moleneux [alt: Molyneux] Jn’r the plantation in Liberty County, lately the property of Joseph Hargraves [alt: Hargreaves] deceased, with all its appurtenances stock etc one hundred & twenty seven negro slaves for the sum of forty thousand, three hundred dollars & has paid the one half of the purchase money, and is to pay the remaining half with interest at the rate of eight percent per annum on or before the seventh day of February 1835, said Hutcheron has already sold a part of said slaves, and the said Moleneux in consideration of the payment already made hereby confirms the sale of the negroes so already sold and agrees not to question the title of the purchase of such negroes. For the remaining negroes sixty in number, it is agreed by the parties in manner following

1st The said Robert Hutcherson is not to have complete title to the said land and the negroes remaining unsold by him until the payment of the whole balance now due by him on said purchase with interest.
2d The said Robert Hutcherson is to be at full liberty & to have full power, to sell any or all of said negroes now remaining unsold & to give a good & perfect title therefor, on condition that the purchase money had therefor be paid to the said Edward Molineux, his agent or assigns, toward the balance now due him and the said Edward Moleneux Jn’r on the receipts of the consideration money had for any such negroes, shall release all lien or title on or to any negro or negroes so sold & shall apply the proceeds so received to the credit of the said Robert Hutchirson on said original purchase.

On June 10, 1834, Dimas Ponce swore before Notary Public Robert W. Pooler that he was present when the deed was signed. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on July 24, 1834.
