Enslaved People Named: Rachel, Jack, Lydia, Mary, Sharper, Selina, Hannah

On July 16, 1821, Benjamin Mell Junior, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $890.31 to Uriah Wilcox, same place, “the seven following negro slaves; viz. A female slave named Rachel, & her two children named Jack & Lydia, & a certain other female slave named Mary, & her two children named Sharper & Selina; likewise another female slave named Hannah.” Witnessed by John F. Williams, E.E. Williams. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on August 27, 1821.
