Enslaved People Named: Major, Hagar, Nelly, Peter, Maria, Cyrus

On December 31, 1812, Simon A. Fraser, gentleman of Liberty County, gifted to his mother, Sarah Fraser, the widow and relict of Simon Fraser, his deceased father, “the following named negro slaves; that is, Major, Hagar, Nelly, Peter, Maria and Cyrus.” Witnessed by John E. Fraser.

Simon A. Fraser appended to this deed a statement dated December 4, 1820, saying that he had signed this deed to his mother while he was still a minor, and that in order to secure the title to “the above-mentioned slaves” to James and Sarah Smylie without any incumbrance, he was again signing his name to it.
