On March 16, 1820, John Stewart, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $1028.42 to William and John Osgood Baker, merchants doing business in the town of Riceborough in Liberty County under the name Wm. & J.O. Baker, “the three following slaves, viz. Two male slaves, named George & Abram, & one female slave named Mary Ann.” Witnessed by Uriah Wilcox, Benj. [Benjamin] Mell Junior. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on March 21, 1820. 

On April 26, 1820, this mortgage was transferred to Lawrence & Thompson by William and John O. Baker. Lawrence acknowledged receipt of payment by William Robarts on January 13, 1821. William Robarts acknowledged receipt of payment of John Stewart, and certified that the mortgage had been paid in full. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on February 2, 1821.
