On March 3, 1819, William Maxwell used as collateral on a promissory note of $1353 to Joseph Jones, Liberty County, “three certain negro slaves, named Isaac, Will and Bob.” Witnessed by Eliza G. Robarts. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on March 25, 1819. 

Written on the deed was “Settled. The above [smudged] from the back of the original this 9th day March 1839. [Signed] Thos. J. Shepard, Clk [Clerk].”
