Marriage Contract (Croft/Cuthbert)

On July 7, 1814, Louisa Croft, Liberty County, and John A. Cuthbert, same place, entered into a marriage contract, naming John Stacy, planter of Liberty County, as her trustee. Because Louisa was entitled to “a very considerable estate, real and personal, as one of the heirs of her father, the late John Croft, of Liberty County deceased,” her property was put into a trust for her. Witnessed by W. [William] McWhir, Mary McWhir, Temperance Wood. Reverend William McWhir probated the document on June 22, 1818. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on June 29, 1818.
