Bill of Sale (Burke/Adams)

Enslaved People Named: Katy

On April 7, 1818, John R. Burke, of Savannah, sold to John Adams, also of Savannah, for $500 “a negro named Katy, about twenty seven years old, black complexion, to have and to hold the said negro woman named Katy.” Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on April 16, 1818.

[NOTE: Not clear why this was recorded in Liberty County as well as, presumably, Chatham County.]
