Enslaved People Named: Popey

On January 2, 1801, Joshua Grinage, of Columbia County, Georgia, sold to John Martin of Savannah for $200 “a certain negro boy slave named Popey, of eight years of age.” Witnessed by Norman McLeod, George Williams. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on February 9, 1818.
