On November 4, 1816, John S. Quarterman, planter of Liberty County, gifted to John Stacy Norman, the son of Joseph Norman and Mary W. Norman, “my negro boy slave named Sam, a son of my negro woman slave Judy.” Witnessed by Benjamin Mell, Richard S. Baker. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on July 3, 1817.
