Enslaved People Named: Toney, Moses

On January 29, 1807, John Harris Junior sold to Dr. Charles William Rogers for $1400 “my two male slaves, Toney & Moses.” Harris promised to “pay unto the said Rogers the sum of one dollar for each month, & every month, during their being in my employ, & to pay all the expenses that they may be at, & on demand to deliver them to the order of the said Rogers, his heirs or assigns.” Witnessed by Alexander McIver. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on May 19, 1817.
