On April 4, 1816, Benjamin Mell, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $2312 to Charlton Hines, executor of the last will and testament of William Way Senior, late of Liberty County, “the following negro slaves; namely, fellows, Bacchus, Toney, Abram, Tennessee, and Old Bob, wenches, Dinah, Cinder [alt: Cinda], and Diana, boys, Jack, Prime and March, and girl Rose.” Witnessed by Samuel Lewis. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on April 13, 1816.
