On May 10, 1809, Benjamin Mell, planter of Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $1000 to Cyrus Gildersleeve, Liberty County, “all those three negroes; to wit, Rose, Lucy and Little Bob.” Witnessed by Thomas Mell, S. Wheeler. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on April 13, 1816.
