On April 5, 1816, Nathaniel Law, planter of Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $2000 to Joseph Jones, also of Liberty County, “four certain negro slaves, named John (a mulatto) Sambo, Galloway and Tartar.” Witnessed by Jacob H. Dunham. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on April 5, 1816. 

[Written on this deed was: “May 16th 1816. Received of Mr. Nathaniel Law the within bond in full. [signed] Jos. Jones. Recorded 21st August 1817.”]
