On November 26, 1807, Thomas Bradwell gave a power of attorney to one ?. Buford “for the recover of the following negroes, to wit, Frank, Amey, Sam, Bob, Mary, Bella, Nanny & Abraham.” If Buford was able to recover them “or any other Negroe property of the said Bradwell,” he agreed to return to Bradwell “one half of the Negroes so recovered to be delivered in Liberty County, State of Georgia, or to pay the said Thomas Bradwell his heirs or assigns, the one half of the money recovered by due course of law in his name.” Witnessed by Joseph Law, who probated the deed on October 2, 1809. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on October 3, 1809. [NOTE: Buford’s first name was identified only by first initial, which was hard to read. It appeared possibly to be a U or an A.
