On December 30, 1811, John Palmer, Liberty County, mortgaged to William Todd, same place, for $250 “a certain Negro fellow by the name of Daniel about four feet nine or ten inches high for the term of three years.” Witnessed by Abraham Deloatch [alt: Deloach], James Barnard. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on January 2, 1812.
