Bill of Sale (Dryer/Wing)

Enslaved People Named: Amelia, June

On October 2, 1809, Liberty County Sheriff Josiah Wilson sold to Stephen S. Wing for $330 “two Negroes named Amelia and June.” Wilson had seized Amelia and June as the property of Nathan Dryer based on a writ of fieri facias obtained as a result of lawsuits against him by Stephen S. Wing, Jordan Roach and others in Liberty County Superior and Inferior Courts. Wing then sold Amelia and June back to Mrs. Eliza Dryer, the natural guardian to her two children named Edmund and Elizabeth. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on October 3, 1809.
