On November 5, 1801, Matthew Shearer, merchant of Savannah, put into trust for Rebecca Thompson Shearer, his wife, via her trustee Moses Way of Liberty County, “all those three negro slaves viz Tenah & her son Toney & Nelly with the future issue and increase of the female slaves and also one gold watch and one piano forte…” Witnessed by Richard M.
