Enslaved People Named: Dianna, George, Rose, Affee, John

On February 5, 1807, Liberty County Sheriff Joseph Jones sold to George Hughes for $241 “the following negroes (to wit) Dianna and her four children named George, Rose, Affee and John, the property of the late Lachlan McIntosh. Jones had seized them from McIntosh’s estate based on a writ of fieri facias due to suits against the estate in Liberty County Superior and Inferior Courts by Messrs Banks and Lockwood and administrators or the McCall estate. He put them up for public auction at the Riceborough Courthouse on February 3, and Hughes was the highest bidder. Witnessed by John Cooper. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on July 25, 1808.
