On October 1, 1804, Lachlan McIntosh, planter of Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $3489 to James Holmes, merchant of Liberty County, “all those fourteen Negro Slaves to wit, Aberdeen & Diana his wife, Cato, Dick, Billy, Jenny, Betty, Auba [alt: Auber], Nancy, Little Cato, Ben, Bob, Sunbury & Sampson…” Witnessed by Samuel S. Law. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on November 13, 1804.
