On May 9, 1803, John Jones, planter of Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $5826.21 to James Holmes, merchant of Liberty County, “all those eight Negroe slaves to wit Hector, Lucy, Jack, Sanco [Sancho?], July, Sinah, Sarah and Sandy…” Witnessed by George Foster. Probated by George Foster on July 13, 1804. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on July 20, 1804.
