On March 13, 1796, John Evans, Liberty County, stated that “my negro fellow by the name of Dublin is to serve as a Slave no longer than during my natural life after my decease I do leave him his freedom together with all that belongs to the said Negro man Dublin to his own use forever. I desire that my Ex’ors [Executors] or Admr’s [Administrators] do support the freedom [of the] said Dublin from any claim or claims whatsoever.”  Witnessed by Thos [Thomas] Mell and probated by him on February 6, 1800. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on February 10, 1800.
