Enslaved Persons Named: Lucinda

On December 6, 1792, David Rees, gentleman of Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of 55 pounds to Egidius Henry Schmidt, merchant of Liberty County, “one Negroe wench named ? Lucinda ? [text very faded] and her infant of the age of eleven months” [not named, later refers to her as a daughter]. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on December 7, 1792.
