“Sir: As your last bond became due in November last I am under the necessity of applying to you for payment some years past my late husband when at the northward sold a parcel of Negroes the property of my Daughters, and as my wish is that they should not be sufferers I mean to apply the amount of your bonds to the Purchase of Negroes in order to replace them sold, mentioning this circumstance I am convinced your Humanity will be so far interested as to come to an amicable arrangement and for that purpose I have requested my Son in Law Mr. Burke to Deliver you this letter your satisfying him will be equally satisfactory to your obedient servant.
