On March 7, 1792, Stephen Baker, planter of Liberty County, sold to John Baker Junior, of Sunbury in Liberty County, for 2000 pounds sterling “69 Negroes”: Ceasor [alt: Caesar], Toby, Bram, George, Somersel [could be Somerset], Strap, Ned, Sampson, Bristol, Jack, Joe, Charles, Jeffery, Bram, Scipio, Charles, Ned, Dick, Peter, Cuffy, January, Sam, Wall, Scipio, Maurice, Frank, Bob, Paris, Will, Ceasar, James, January, Frank, Tom, Tim [or Jim], Herculus [alt: Hercules], Dick, Sue, Moll, Clarinda, Venus, Lydia, Sarah, Venus, Nanny, Harriet, Sary, Charlotte, Lucy, Chloe, Dianna, Chloe, Dianna, Juno, [possibly] Binah, Philis [alt: Phyllis], Mary, Dinah, Miley, Lucy, Flora, Emely [alt: Emily], Lydia, Hagar, Lizzy, Hannah, Tenah, Mary, Nanny.” There was also a detailed inventory of some silver plate, some mahogany household furniture, some horses, a riding chair, a stock of cattle and herd of sheep, included in the sale. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on March 7, 1792.
