On August 9, 1777, John Mitchell, St. John’s Parish in the Georgia Province [now Liberty County], gifted to “my son John Mitchell of said Province” “one Negroe boy named Seasar [alt: Caesar].” Witnessed by Robert Sallett, William Bacon. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on April 11, 1788 .
