On October 16, 1778, Mrs. Jean Darling, of St. John’s Parish in the County of Liberty, relict of Andrew Darling, deceased, of the same Parish, gifted to “her beloved daughter” Elizabeth Darling “one Mulatto Girl, or Woman called Sue.” Witnessed by Elizabeth Powell. Recorded October 19, 1778.
