On January 21, 1830, George W. Walthour, Chatham County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $1200 to Miss Margaret Lawrence, Chatham County, “the following twelve negroes named Judy, Miley, Leah, Simon, Little Chloe, Embargo, Rencha, Minda, Sandy, Bess, Tom and Dick.” Witnessed by B.A. Busby. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on February 4, 1830. [NOTE: This mortgage was marked as ssatisfied per Jacob Shaffer for Margaret Lawrence in Savannah as of March 20, 1833. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on April 21, 1833.
