On January 10, 1831, in Savannah, Elias Reid, survivor of the firm Tufts & Reid, reported that a “mortgage of negroes” from Jacob H. Dunham to Tufts & Reid had  been paid in full. The mortgage was said to have been recorded in Liberty County Superior Court Book I, pages 79-80, on March 22. 1824. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on June 13, 1831. [NOTE: Although no names were given in this document, the recorded mortgage gave the names Mary and Moses.]
