On January 15, 1828, Josiah Wilson, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $2200 to Maxwell & King, of Savannah, “Bella, Sue, Dinah, Cato, Bristol, Brutus, Diana, Little Diana, Little Peggy, Kitty, Cuffy [alt: Cuffee], Toby, Toney [alt: Tony], Leah, Hannah, & Cinda.” Also used as collateral was a 600-acre tract of land in Liberty County, on the North Newport River, now occupied by Josiah Wilson, bounded on the west by lands of Jedidiah Field, and on the south and southeast by Joseph Austin’s land. Witnessed by John F. Webb, ?.D. Hathaway. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on March 10, 1828. 

On March 10, 1828, William King, surviving partner of the late firm of Maxwell & King, reported that a mortgage of “land & negroes” by Josiah Wilson, previously recorded in Book I, pages 279-80, on March 10, 1828, had been satisfied. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on April 2, 1829.
