On March 6, 1828, William Robarts, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $1719.78 to James Audley Maxwell, factor, of the City of Savannah, “the following named negro slaves, to wit, Charles, Ben, Big George, Diana, Mahala, Patty, Andrew, and Frank.” Maxwell had accepted a draft for that amount drawn by Robarts on him in favor of Andrew Low and Company of Savannah. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on March 6, 1828. [NOTE: Marked as satisfied by William King, administrator of the estate of J.A. Maxwell, as of November 17, 1829. Satisfaction recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on December 7, 1829.]
