On May 4, 1829, William Hughes, Liberty County, used as collateral on promissory notes totalling $978.12 to Uriah Wilcox, Liberty County, “a female slave named Bell, & her three children Sam, Moses & Henry, & a female slave named Lydia, & her son Agrippa; likewise a female slave named Diana, about seven years of age, & a male slave named Ned; together with the future issue & increase of the females.” Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on May 12, 1829..
