Enslaved Persons Named: Fatima, Eve, Cato

On February 5, 1828, Bartholomew A. Busby, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $425 to Furman R. Whitwell, “a negro woman slave named Fatima and her two children Eve and Cato.” Witnessed by David Stetson. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on April 29, 1828. [NOTE: Written on this deed was “Received 14th December 1833 full satisfaction for the within mortgage this day.” Signed by J.D. Hathaway agent for F.R. Whitwell. Satisfaction recorded on December 20, 1833.
