Enslaved Persons Named: Abby, Billy, Nanny, Sukey, Jenny, Sherwill [or Sherwell], Caesar, Chloe, Josephine, William

On February 6, 1828, the Bank of Darien, represented by James Troup, President, and E.S. Rees, Cashier, sold to Charlton Hines, Liberty County, for $2280 “the following named negroes, viz, Abby, Billy, Nanny, Sukey, Jenny, Sherwill [or Sherwell], Caesar, Chloe, Josephine and William,” who had previously been purchased by the Bank of Darien on March 6, 1827 at a Sheriff’s sale at the Liberty County courthouse at Riceborough after a judgment levied on James Holmes for a debt of $11400.” Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on March 18, 1828.
