Enslaved Persons Named: May, Abram

On May 17, 1826, Robert P. and his wife Amarintha E. Burton agreed to exchange an enslaved man named May, inherited by Amarintha from the estate of John Robarts, for an enslaved man named Abram, about 34 years old, inherited by William Jones from the John Burton estate. Abram was to be held in trust for Amarintha by her trustees, Joseph Quarterman and William Jones, as directed in the marriage settlement.
